WM. BUCKELS DIED SUNDAY MORNING

William F. Buckels, life long farmer and resident of the Jewell community died at his home in Jewell, Sunday morning at 5:35 o’clock. He had been ill for a period of six months from a heart ailment. The funeral was held at his home in Jewell, at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, July 20, with Rev. Nesse, Lutheran Pastor, conducting the service and Mrs. Myrle Engelson, soloist. Burial was made in Ellsworth. Casket bearers were Roy Bonner, Fred Buckholtz, Melvin Porter, Oscar Peterson, Peter M. Person, and Louis Olson.

William Francis Buckels was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Buckels. He was born on a farm northeast of Jewell, December 19, 1876, and was educated in the rural schools of this community, and lived all of his life near Jewell. He was engaged in farming all of his life until he retired and moved from his farm northwest of town to Jewell a year ago last spring. Mr. Buckels was known by all in the community as a hard worker, a good farmer, a man who always gladly cooperated with his neighbors in all activities for the promotion of the best interests of his community, a good friend, and a kind husband and father. His death occurred July 18, 1948, at the age of 71 years, 7 months, and 29 days. On August 25, 1903, he married Genevieve Willis at Ellsworth, Iowa. To this union, three children were born, one daughter preceding him in death. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Lloyd and William, Jr. of Jewell, one brother, A.T. Buckels of Lakota, Iowa and five grandchildren.
