The Roland Record, Roland, Story County, Iowa, April 9, 1897.

H. N. Sparboe received the sad news last Saturday of the death of his brother, O. A., who died on the 30th in Norway, where he went some months ago for the benefit of his health. Mr. Sparboe had been a sufferer for the past four years from the effects of that dreaded disease, consumption and left for Norway with the hope that a change in climate would affect a cure. The death is indeed a sad one as it takes away a man in the prime of his usefulness, who gave promise of making a creditable mark in this world. Mr. Sparboe was a professor in Jewell college before leaving for Norway and his work gave most excellent satisfaction. He was a very fine performer on the violin and his playing was admired and praised by all who had the pleasure of hearing him. The brothers of the deceased are extended the profound sympathy of the entire community.
