C. A. Marsh, 70, Dies in City; Rites Monday Former Implement Dealer Had Been Ill The Past 2 Years.

Charles A. Marsh, 70 prominent Webster City businessman, died at 8:08 p.m. Thursday at the Hamilton county hospital where he had been a patient since Nov. 11. He had been in ill health the past two years. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. E. A. Piper of Fairfield officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove cemetery south of Lehigh.

Born in Kansas--

Charles Albert Marsh, son of James and Elizabeth Marsh, was born Dec. 7, 1881 on a farm in Russell county near Wilson, Kansas. When he was seven years old, the family moved to a farm south of Lehigh. He received his elementary education in the schools at Lehigh and later attended Tobin business college at Fort Dodge.

He was united in marriage in December 1904, to Ida Moot, and the couple farmed south of Lehigh until 1937 when they moved to Dayton, Iowa where he was a salesman for an implement company. In 1939, they moved to Webster City where Mr. Marsh was employed at the Webster City Implement Co. Mrs. Marsh preceded him in death June 21, 1944.

He was united in marriage to Mrs. Mary Ostlund Sept. 1, 1945 and they had since made their home here in Webster City. He is survived by his wife, three sons and four daughters: James Marsh of Dickinson, N. D., Charles Marsh of Houston, Texas,; John Marsh of Forest Grove, Ore.; Mrs. Belva Hardy of Chicago; Mrs. Paul (Opal) Knaupp of Portland, Ore; Mrs. John (Ramona) Gould of Grants Pass, Ore; Miss Thelma Marsh of Portland, Ore; two step-sons Robert and John Ostlund both of Webster City; 13 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Active in Lodges--

Mr. Marsh was a member of the English Lutheran Church, and of the Masonic lodge. He was past patron of the Eastern Star, and a member of the White Shrine and the Twelve organizations. A friendly and cooperative man, Mr. Marsh took a keen interest in community activitiesand well-liked by all who knew him. He made a wide acquaintance through his association with the business implement business, and will be greatly missed , not only by his immediate family, but by his many friends.
