Hoag-Terry

Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Hoag, who reside three and a half miles northeast of Blairsburg, occurred the marriage of their eldest daughter, Mary E., to Mr. Garland Terry, a young farmer living near that place. Promptly at seven o'clock the young couple, unattended, took their places in a prettily draped corner of the parlor where Rev. Wardle, pastor of the Methodist church in Williams, performed the simple service. A pink and white color idea was carried out in the decoration of the rooms, pink and white carnations and simlax being effectively used. The bride was gowned in white chiffon organdie over oriental lace and carried a shower bouquet of narcissus and white carnations. She wore in her hair a spray of orange blossoms sent by her great uncle, W.E. Hoag, of Niami [sic], Florida, a former resident of this city. Immediately following the congratulations the thirty-six relatives and friends in attendance were served a delicious three course lap luncheon. Many beautiful presents were received by the young couple. They left this morning on a brief wedding trip and will be at home after March fifteenth on a farm about three miles northeast of Blairsburg.
The groom has farmed near Blairsburg for about three years and is well and favorably known to people living in and near Blairsburg. The bride is a granddaughter of Mrs. Mary A. Hoag and a niece of Mrs. J. N. McLaury and Mrs. A. I. Hart, all of this city. She was born and reared to young womanhood on the Hoag farm near Blairsburg, in fact this farm has been the Hoag family's home for many years. Mr. and Mrs. James Hoag went to live thereon shortly after they were married in 1868. The bride's father and his sister, Mrs. Hart, were both born there and Mr. and Mrs. Hoag went to housekeeping upon this place when they were married and have resided on the farm since that time, the four Hoag children all having been born and reared there.
Mrs. Mary A. Hoag, Mrs. A. I. Hart and Miss Florence Gillman of this city were the only out-of-town guests at the wedding.

Undated.
