RICHARD ALFRED JACKSON

Richard, son of John Thomas and Phyllis Wailes Jackson, was born June 4, 1907, in Highland Township, Guthrie County, Iowa. He lived with his parents on a farm south of Bayard where he attended rural school.

On Oct. 4, 1929, he married Blanch Rockwell in Guthrie Center. Richard worked in and around Bayard for farmers until 1942 when he and Blanch began farming for themselves. They retired from farming in 1971 and moved into Bayard where Richard continued to do carpenter work for many years.

Richard suffered a stroke in 1983. He spent some time in the hospital, then moved to the Craft Care Center in Panora for one year Since that time, he had been a resident of the New Homestead in Guthrie Center where he died Sept 18, 1987, at the age of 80 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by a daughter, Eva Geraldine Silletto, two sisters, Maggie Bancroft and Eva Jackson; and by two brothers, Bill and George Jackson

He is survived by his wife, Blanch of Bayard, a son George Andrew Jackson of Fontana, Calif, a daughter, Ann and her husband John Greenlee of Guthrie Center; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, two brothers, John Jackson of Guthrie Center and Jim Jackson of Bayard, and a sister-in-law, Mary Jackson of Bayard.

Services were September 21 at Ohde Funeral Home in Bayard with Pastor Edythe Hill officiating. Interment was in Highland Township Cemetery. Bayard.1987
