Funeral services for Elbert Adams, 84, were held from the Jamaica Union Church at 2 pm May 7. He passed away May 4 in the Green County hospital.
Rev William H. Morehouse, minister of the Union Church, officiated and Mrs. John Crabb was organist.
Honorary bearers were W. L. McDevitt, Marvin Peckumn, Baird Wasson, Thomas Towne and Ward Murphy. Mr. Adams was laid to rest in the Jefferson cemetery with his casket carried by Bernard Ellis, Carl Dueland, James Godfrey, Orville Van Gundy, Fred Raaz and Leo Ellis.
Elbert Adams, son of W. W. and Catharine Remele Adams, was born in Green county, just north of Jamaica on December 6, 1888. It was there that he grew to manhood attending rural schools near home. On November 28, 1911 Elbert married Mary Stewart at Jefferson. They were the parents of a daughter, Catherine.
Mr. Adams farmed South of Jefferson and then for a time lived in Spencer where he had a variety and grocery store. In 1919 he moved again to farm north of Jamaica. In later years he lived in retirement in Jamaica.
Elbert was a member of the Methodist Church, Ensign Lodge of Masonic Order in Jamaica and the Jamaica Chapter, order of the Eastern Star.
Mr. Adams passed away May 4 at the Green County hospital in Jefferson at 84 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Mahlon and Fred and three sisters, Elizabeth and Mabel and an infant sister, Grace.
His survivors include his daughter, Catherine of Jamaica; other relatives and friends.
