Funeral services for Lawrence Heckman 63, were held Tuesday at 2 P M. from the Mason Funeral Home in Coon Rapids. He died Saturday in the Guthrie County hospital where he had been a patient one day.
A lifelong resident of Guthrie County, Mr. Heckman was born near Adair September 23, 1910. He had farmed for many years in Union township southwest of Bayard.
The final rites were conducted by Marvin Jedele and interment was made in the Union Township cemetery. Beth Macheers was vocalist at the service and Alice Crane was organist. The casket was carried by Bill Walden, Bob Tryon, Walter Skogsberg, C J Macheers and John and Don Pommer.
Survivors include his widow, Lela; seven children, Dean of Muscatine; Mrs. Loa Stewart, Des Moines; Mrs. Joan Elmshoff, Boulder, Colo; Darrell and Don, Colorado Springs, Colo, and Ruth and Bob at home; 12 grandchildren; three brothers and five sisters.
The brothers are George and Ed of Adair and Melvin of Coon Rapids and the sisters are Martha Walker and Laura Garrett of Adair, Marie Readinger of Guthrie Center and Helen and Velma Heckman and Ruby Anderson of Des Moines.
