Funeral services for Mrs. Edity Mae Ross Garber were held Saturday at 1:30 am from the Hamilton Funeral Home in Des Moines, Burial was in the Highland Cemetery at Bayard.
A native of Guthrie county, Mrs. Garber maintained a home in Bayard many years prior to moving to Des Moines. She died February 14 in Broadlawns Polk County hospital which she had entered earlier in the day. Cause of death was a series of strokes.
Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H O Pierce, Mrs. Garber was born in Guthrie county February 2, 1902. After moving to Des Moines she worked as a cook in the Polk County Home until 1970 when she became ill. Since then she had lived in a nursing home.
Her husband, Guy Garber, died in 1970. Surviving are four step-sons, Everett of Eldon and Donald, Marvin and Melvin all of Des Moines, and brothers, Lloyd Pierce of Guthrie Center and T W Pierce of Moline, Ill. Also, many nieces and nephews and other distant relatives survive.
