Final rites for Coon Rapids-Bayard Pioneer Pearl Jenny Cretsinger were held Monday July 11, from the Bayard Church of Christ. The service which was held at 10:30 am was conducted by the minister, LeRoy Guernsey. Miss Lula Garnes was pianist and Corine and Sam Cretsinger sang two hymns.
After years of failing health, the 88 year old Mrs. Cretsinger died last Friday at the Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids where she and her husband, Ora, had lived for the last five years.
Interment was made in the Orange Township Cemetery and the casket was carried by Robert Lee, William Lower, Bill Kibby, Martin Cretsinger and Oliver and Wayne Textor.
Pearl Jenny Cretsinger was born April 26, 1889 to Lewis and Mary Jane Textor in Audubon County. She passed away at the Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids July 8, at the age of 88 years, two months and 12 days.
She spent her life near Coon Rapids and Bayard. She was united in marriage to Ora Cretsinger on her parent's farm in Viola Township.
She belonged to the Church of Christ in Bayard where she attended until illness prevented. Her main interest in life was communicating with the shut ins. Being able to help others through letters and cards brought her as well as others great joy.
She was a homemaker, a mother and a wife on farms around the Coon Rapids area and spent 33 years in Bayard until illness made it necessary for her to reside at the Thomas Rest Haven, from March of 1972 until her death.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Kenneth, her parents, and three brothers, Fred, George and Archer Textor.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Ora, of Coon Rapids; one brother, Bryan Textor of Des Moines; one sister, Myrtle Lutccavish of Mason City; six children, Mrs. Virgil (Clarise) Lee of Lohrville, Mrs. Don (June) Collins of Des Moines, Vivian of Coon Rapids, Gayle of Woodburn, Oregon, Darrell of Salem, Oregon; 18 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
Pearl was a loving Christian, mother and wife.
