Funeral services were held at 2 pm Saturday, October 15, from the Church of Christ in Yale for Cecile Derry, 80, who passed away early Thursday in the Guthrie County hospital. The Yale lady had lived at the Bayard Care Center since January of 1974. She had entered the hospital October 3.
A Eugene Lockling, of the Church of Christ, officiated at the funeral service. Vocalists were Florence Hughes and Pat Schwartz who sang two hymns, accompanied by Lula Garnes, all of Bayard. Interment was in the Moffitt Grove cemetery and the casket was carried by Darrell Bower, Mark Bower, Jim Calvert, Kenneth Calvert, Randy Calvert and Ronnie Calvert. Fouch Funeral home of Yale was in charge of arrangements.
Cecile Ivis, daughter of Fred and Rosa Marchant, was born June 13, 1897, at Guthrie Center and passed away in the Guthrie County Hospital at the age of 80 years, four months.
She was united in marriage to Mark Derry February 17, 1918, and lived most of her life in this vicinity.
Cecile as a member of the Pythian Sisters Rose Bud Lodge, 303, Yale.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Orville Marchant. She is survived by a sister, Mary Calvert of Bayard, and a brother, Lester Marchant of Cumberland; one niece, Mrs. Ellen Bower of Coon Rapids; two nephews, Carroll Marchant of Phoenix, Ariz. and Kenneth Calvert of Guthrie Center; and eight great nieces and nephews.
