Death came to George West Tuesday night in the Guthrie County hospital which he had entered that morning from the Bayard Care Center. The Bagley man had been a resident of the Center since September 22, 1976.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 pm at the Bagley Church of Christ with A Eugene Lockling of the Yale Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in the Dodge Township cemetery and George will be carried there by grandsons Robert and Michael Solverson, Mitchell West and Eugene, Steven and Joseph Clark.
George Robert West was born April 7, 1903, near Estherville in Emmett County, Iowa. He was raised there and attended the Estherville high school.
January 26, 1924, he was united in marriage to Hannah Ziemer at Estherville. The couple farmed near Estherville and in southern Minnesota until coming to Bagley in 1946. They raised two girls and seven sons.
In Bagley George worked for his son-in-law, Garold Clark, in farm tiling. He was a member of the Bagley Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Glen, a sister who died in infancy and a granddaughter, Sherrill Clark, and his wife who died three years ago.
He is survived by his children, Velma Clark of Woodward; Mrs. Ralph Dorothy Solverson, of Fort Dodge; Mervin of Altoona; Eugene of Kingman, Kansas; Donald, Johnny and Merlyn of Yale; Delbert of Bagley and Russell of Des Moines; 25 Grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; a brother Everett of California, and two sisters, Mrs. Fern Bucey of Adel and Rose Maloney of Lewisville, Minn.
