Ronald A Durst, son of Melvin and Thelma Patterson Durst, was born in Guthrie Center on December 16, 1958. He passed away at the Iowa Methodist Hospital, Des Moines, on November 3.
Ron spent his early life in the parental home, attending Guthrie Center school system, having graduated in the class of 1977. He was active in many things, a member of the National Honor Society, a participant in the sports of football, basketball and track, as well as a active participant in the youth group and the congregation of the First Christian Church, Guthrie Center.
Ron had spent the fall semester attending classes at Central College , Pella, and as well for a time was on the football team.
Ron is survived by his parents Melvin an Thelma Durst of Guthrie Center, his two brothers, Anthony who is a student at Area 11 college in Ankeny, and Alex, a freshman at Guthrie Center High School. As well his two grandmothers, Mrs. Elvina Durst and Mrs. Jessie Kesselring both of Guthrie Center and numerous other relatives, friends, former classmates and indeed the entire community will mourn his passing.
Services for Ron Durst were held at the First Christian Church, Guthrie Center, on Saturday; November 5, at 3;30 pm with the Rev Jerry D Palmer officiating. Internment was at the Union Cemetery, Guthrie Center.
