Mrs. Henning Rites Held
Funeral rites for Mrs. Wilber (Hannah M.) Henning were held Tuesday from the Central Christian Chruch in Jefferson. The 2 p.m. service was in charge of the pastor, Rev R Carroll Johnson. Mrs. Beryl Morden accompanied Miss Marilyn Shearmen when she sang three hymns, Burial was in the Scranton cemetery.
Born in Green County, Mrs. Henning had lived her entire life in the Scranton, Bagley and Jefferson communities. She died April 8 at the age of 77.

Hannah Marie Henning, daughter of Willard and Ella Gouger Shaffer, was born August 14, 1899, in Greenbrier Township, Green County. She was the youngest of six children and a lifetime resident of Green County. When Hannah was a youngster, she moved to Scranton with her family. She graduated in 1921 from the Scranton high school. Hannah took normal training at Cedar Falls and returned to Green County to teach school in Kendrick Township.
On December 29, 1921 Hannah was united in marrage with Wilber Henning in Jefferson. They were the parents of six sons and on daughter, George, Marvin, Donald, Wendell, Alen, Ernest and Phyllis. The family farmed south of Scranton before moving to the Shaffer farm for 13 years. Then they moved to a farm north of Bagley. In 1974, Mr. and Mrs. Henning retired and moved to Jefferson.
Mrs. Henning was a member of the Scranton and Bagley Church of Christ and recently transferred her membership to the Central Christian Church in Jefferson. She was a member of the Lucky Thirteen Club in Jefferson. She died in Jefferson on Friday April 8, at the age of 77 years.
Hannah was preceded in death by her parents, bothers, John and Lee Shaffer and sisters, Jesse McCollum an Kathryn Steigerwalt. She is survived by her husband, Wilber, her children, George, Marvin, Donald and Wendell, all of Jefferson; Allen of Boone; Ernest of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Mrs. Robert (Phyllis) Tiefenthaler of Odebolt; 23 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, a brother, Harry Shaffer of Jefferson, other relatives and many friends.
