Today would have been their 70th wedding anniversary. Alene and Marvin lived north of Stuart where they farmed and raised their family. Alene enjoyed substitute teaching and it was always a bonus when one of her grandchildren was a member of the class. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Diocesan Pastoral Council. She was also a regular at bingo in Anita and at All Saints. Alene and Marvin took many trips, traveling abroad to Lithuania, China, Rome, Russia, Ireland, Denmark, Switzerland and England. Alene loved and cared for her many grandchildren. She was known for playing practical jokes on any unsuspecting member of her family.

Alene was preceded in death by her husband Marvin; parents; two brothers Leonard and Frank Raibikis and one sister Eugenia Hopkins.

She is survived by her children, Paul (Sharon) Pieper of Stuart; Kathryn (Eugene) Fitzgerald of Stuart; Annette (Embree) Edgington of Waukee; Lori (Jerry) Southmayd of Pella; Leo (Jeri) Pieper of Stuart, Marty (Sandy) Pieper of Adel; David (Diana) Pieper of West Des Moines; 20 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
