The Bayard News Thursday, June 7, 1973

Joseph Patrick Murrane, a Bayard pioneer who was born in Willow township and lived there all his life, died Tuesday in St Anthony hospital in Carroll. He had been hospitalized for 16 days.
Son of Michael and Johannah Kearney Murrane, he was born December 21, 1890. He attended school at Bayard and served in France during World War I.
The Mass of the Resurrection
will be prayed in his honor Friday at 10:30 a m in St Patrick’s Catholic Church in Bayard with the pastor, Rev Frank Palmer officiating.
Interment will be made in the Willow township cemetery. A rosary and scripture reading will be held at 8 p m today at the Starling Funeral Home where the body will remain until time for final rites.
Mr Murrane always had a keen interest in township and county government and took an active part in the management of local affairs. He spent his entire life in the farming business.
In 1931 he was married to Martha Emery. They were parents of six children, all of whom servive. They are Martha Ann (Mrs Robert) Jenners and their children, Danny, David, Kelly and Lynn of Metairie, La; Michael M Murrane, his wife and children, Tommy and Mary Pat, of Des Moines; Matthew Murrane, his wife and children, Timmy and Carolyn of Bayard; Marie of Bayard;Margaret of Kansas City, Mo, and Madonna (Mrs Tom) Holt and their daughter, Debbie, of Kansas City, Kansas.
