Funeral services for Mrs Lloyd (Nellie Mae) Dowd will be held Friday at 2 p m from the Slininger Chapel in Jefferson.
Death came to Mrs Dowd Tuesday evening following six weeks of illness. She was in the extended care center of the Greene County hospital at the time of her death. She had a series of continuous light strokes.
A native of Richland township, Mrs Dowd was born two miles from the home where she had lived for last 52 years.
Daughter of Mr. and Mrs William Kinney, she was born January 26, 1906. When she married Mr Dowd more than 52 years ago, they moved to their home a mile west of Herndon and they have lived there continuously since.
Active in community affairs, Mrs Dowd was president of the Bagley Home Culture Club and the Herndon Woman’s Club. In addition, she was a member of the Herndon Ladies Aid, the Bagley Garden Club and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Besides her husband, she is survived by sons, Joseph W of Perry and Charles W at home. Wayne and Jim Dowd of Perry are grandsons and Mrs Joseph Dowd is her daughter-in-law.
