James Howard Buckmaster, 48, of Almond, New York, was dead on arrival at Bethesda Hospital in Hornell, New York, August 24.
Born in Marshalltown, Mr Buckmaster lived in Almond for 20 years. A veteran of World War II he served with the Seabees. He was employed as a general mechanic at State University Agricultural and Technical College at Alfred, New York. He was a trustee of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for several years.
Surviving are his widow, Sara three sons, James H, at home, Richard, of Almond, and Robert, also at home: a daughter, Deborah, at home; his mother, Cecile Buckmaster of Bayard, three brothers, the Rev Roy Buckmaster, of Kellogg, Idaho, Merlin and Marvin Buckmaster of Denver, Colo; three sisters, Dorothy Way of Papillian Nebraska, Madonna Butler of Denver, Colo, and Delores Gadberry of Santa Barbara, California, and a granddaughter, Jennifer, several neices and nephews and aunts and uncles.
The Fraternal Order of Eagles service was held at 7:30 p m Sunday and funeral services were held Monday at 2 p m from the Landon-Beaver Funeral Home in Hornell, New York. The Rev Henry Rood officiated. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Almond.
A small memorial service was held at the graveside Tuesday evening with the Rev Roy Buckmaster officiating.
Merlin and Marvin Buckmaster, Madonna Butler, Mr and Mrs Vernon Way and Mrs Cecile Buckmaster drove to Almond, New York to attend the funeral. Rev Roy Buckmaster flew to New York to attend the funeral also
