Maxine McCabe,94, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, at Twigg Funeral Home in Guthrie Center. M. Maxine Sheeder McCabe

Maxine M. McCabe was born April 18, 1919 to Anna (Gustin) and Art Sheeder in rural Guthrie Center. She passed away July 8, 2013 at the New Homestead.

Maxine was one of ten children living on Sheeder farm and attending country school. She began working as a young lady until she met Wayne McCabe and they were married February 24, 1943. They spent their first years farming before moving to Knoxville, IA for several years. Eventually returning to the family farm in Guthrie Center where they raised their family.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, bowling, traveling, and most of all her family. Maxine was a nurse's aid for 14 years at the New Homestead in Guthrie Center. Maxine was a long time member of the First Christian Church, Christian Fellowship of Women, and the Rebecca's.

Maxine is survived by son Richard (Donna) McCabe, daughter Barbara Eastman of Omaha, son in law Larry (Mary) Railsback, seven grandchildren, Jeff (Frankie) Railsback, Teresa (Bob) Secoy, Penny (Dean) Wetzel all of Guthrie Center, Monte (Diane) Eastman from England, LaDonna Isibue of Florida, Scott (Elaine) McCabe of Des Moines, Shary (Tim) Zuspann of Council Bluffs, thirteen great grandchildren, four sisters and one brother.

She was preceded in death by her parents Anna and Arthur Sheeder, husband Wayne McCabe, daughter Lana Railsback, daughter in law Linda McCabe and son in law Jim Eastman, two sisters and two brothers.
