Joseph W. Martin, 52, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2013, with loving family at his side.Joe was born in Berea, OH, and moved to Des Moines in 1968. He attended Holy Trinity grade school, and graduated from Dowling Catholic High School in 1978. He lived in Beaverdale with his mother Miriam (McGrane) Martin, and his beloved dog, Maggie. Joe enjoyed writing poetry, and created stained glass works, which he sold in art fairs and galleries. He worked as a courier through his final years. He was a lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan, with a deep heart and a great sense of humor.

Joe is survived by his mother Miriam (Des Moines), his brothers John (Trudy) of Urbandale, IA, and Dave of Lombard, IL, his sister Kathryn Dixon of Salt Lake City, UT, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation, Rosary and Reflections will be held at Holy Trinity Church, Friday, March 1st at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, March 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, located at 2926 Beaver Rd, Des Moines, IA. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Casey, IA, on March 2, at 3:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to his family. ~ The Des Moines Register, Des Moines, Iowa 26 Feb 2013.
