Funeral Services Held Friday In Casey for Stella Beattie

Mrs. Stella Beattie, 67, passed away Monday of last week at her home in Casey.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, Dec. 14, at the United Methodist Church in Casey, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Lester Hesseltine. Mrs. Vernon Joint was the soloist, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Collis Smith. Pallbearers were Eldon McNally, Wayne Siedelmann, William Swalbe, Keith Miller, Dale Slayton, and Marion Bobblett. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery.

Stella Marie Beattie was born May 8, 1912 at Albia, the daughter of James and Ollie Clinkenbeard Johnson. She attended school at Churdan. Following the death of her mother she went to live at Centerville.

She was married July 12, 1928 to Louis Beattie at Grinnell. They farmed in Adair County until 1966 when the moved to Casey. Mrs. Beattie had worked as a nurse's aid in various nursing homes and was employed at the Adair Community Health Center at the time of her death. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Casey and the United Methodist Women, of which she was to be vice president in 1980.

Survivors include one son, James Beattie of Casey; four grandchildren; one great grandson; two brothers, Virgil Johnson of Grinnell and George Bunker of Newton; one sister, Mrs. Mabel Staecker of Grinnell; one step sister, Evelynn Carr of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step mother; her husband in 1966; one daughter in infancy; and two brothers, Roy and Francis.
