Observance of Walther League Birthday
Immanuel Walther League of Adair observed the forty-seventh birthday of the International Walther League with a fellowship banquet and candle-lighting service in the social room of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Parents of the members and officers of the congregation and their wives were guests.
The room was decorated in the Walther League colors, gold and black, and with balloons. A two-course dinner was served by Marian Franz, Myrna Vokt, Geraldine Bales, and Joy Hobson as waitresses, assisted by Mrs. Alfred Franz, Mrs. H. L. Hocamp, Mrs. Ed Sachau, and Mrs. L. O. Sparling.
The following program was given with the Rev. Theo. Hoemann serving as toastmaster: group singing; trombone solo, Erlene Fett; "Facts and Fancies of the Leaguers," Pastor Hoemann; short talks by the past president, Dale Mueller, and the president, Emerson Fett; presentation of certificates of honorary membership in Immanuel Walther League to John T. Mueller, who has served the congregation over twenty years as chairman, and to Arthur Wedemeyer, who has served the congregation over twenty years as secretary; trombone solo, Irene Hoemann; vocal solo, Vada Huss; dialogue Ethelyn and Katherine Wilson; candlelighting service; singing of the Walther League Song.
During the program, telegrams were received and read by Otto Shafer, Mrs. Geo. Bireline, W. A. Huss, George Siedelmann, Henry Gebers, and John Jipp. Glen Chase served as messenger boy.
