Robert J. Janssen, age 77, of Waterman, IL passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at his home. He was born on June 28, 1947 in Grundy Center, IA the son of Claus and Hilda (Dirks) Janssen.

Robert was united in marriage on May 28, 1979 to the former Catherine Julian and they were married for 45 years. He served his country proudly for many years as a member of the United States Army. Robert farmed at his previous home in Iowa for many years. Robert and his wife recently moved into their daughter Eleanor's home in Waterman, IL. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Janssen of Waterman, IL; his daughter, Eleanor (Kyle) Rissman of Waterman, IL; his sons, Dirk (Mary Harrison) Janssen of Colo, IA and Drew Janssen of Waterloo, IA; his grandchildren, Kylie and Jaxson Rissman; his brother, William Janssen of Wellsburg, IA; his sister, Jean Anderson of Cedar Falls, IA; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claus and Hilda Janssen; his brothers, Donald Janssen and Charles Janssen; sisters-in-law, Billie Janssen and Jean Janssen Combs; his brother-in-law, William Anderson; and his nephew, Blake Janssen.

Family funeral services for Mr. Janssen are private.
