Chelsea-- Ira O. Mabe, 70, died Friday in his home following a sudden illness. He was a retired farmer and had operated a nursing home in Tama.

He is survived by his wife, Vernita of Eldora; two sons, Clifford of Union and Harold of Eldora; two daughters, Audrey Schueller and Linda Cole, both of Eldora; four brothers, Sterling and Lawrence of Washington state, and Sam and Claudie of California; a sister, Audrey Dreier of Vancouver, Wash.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Hrabak's, Chelsea, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday.

Burial: Morrison Cemetery, Morrison.

A memorial fund has been established.
