Mrs. Olive Baker, Former Resident, Dies

Mrs. Olive Reynolds Baker, 72, a former resident of this area and Marshalltown, passed away Saturday at Columbus, Ohio where she had resided since April, 1970 after suffering a stroke in California where she had spent the winter.

She was born Olive Nordquist January 14, 1899 near Whitten, the daughter of Alex and Elizabeth Starns Nordquist. She received her education in rural schools in the area where she was born. On June 5, 1921 she was married to Frank Reynolds. They made their home in the Union and Whitten area until 1935 when they moved to Marshalltown. Mr. Reynolds passed away in 1965. In 1969 she was married to Myrrel F. Baker, who passed away later that same year. Her parents also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Baker was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown, WSCS of the church, Royal Neighbors, Benson Cemetery Society and the Jefferson Park Shuffleboard Club of Pasadena, Calif. where Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds spent their winters for many years.

Survivors are three children, Mrs. Robert (Gwendolyn) Houser of Columbus, Ohio, Stanley Reynolds, Mason City, and Ronald Reynolds of Ankeny, also 7 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Ray (Grace) Daffer of Clarendon Hills, Ill.

Services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in the Chapel of the Estel-Perrin Funeral Home at Marshalltown with Dr. James K. Delahooke officiating. Burial was in the Benson cemetery near Whitten.
