Minnie Brandt was born on October 8, 1889, the daughter of Meene and Jenna Vust Pruisner, in Grundy County, south of Parkersburg. In 1907, her family moved to Parkersburg.

Minnie was united in marriage with John Brandt on February 23, 1910, at the home of her mother. This union was blessed with one son and three daughters. They made their home on a farm south of Aplington for a few years, then moved to Bradford, Ia. In the fall of 1919, they moved to Buck Grove, and lived there for twenty-five years. In the spring of 1946, they moved to Aplington. Minnie lived in Parkersburg from 1952 until 1973, when she became a resident of the Allison Manor in Allison, Ia.

Minnie was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

On Monday, Oct. 26, 1981, Minnie died at the Allison Manor the age of 92 years and 16 days.

She is survived by: her son, John Brandt of Parkersburg, Ia.; her two daughters, Mildred, Mrs. Donald Lyons of Waverly, Ia., and Viola, Mrs. Leonard Hoffman of Davenport, Ia.; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, one daughter, Jaenette in 1918, two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services of Minnie Brandt were held at 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, October 29, 1981, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Parkersburg, Ia., with Rev. Lanny Johnson officiating. Mrs. Marilyn Palmer was the organist and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Elliott sang "There is Rest". Interment followed at the Buck Grove Cemetery rural Parkersburg. Casketbearers were: Elmer Smith, Kenneth Smith, Gary DeGroote, Darrel Brandt, Gary Carmen and Fred Dreesman.

The Schwartz-Engelkes Funeral Home of Parkersburg was in charge of funeral arrangements.
