Donald Albers, 87, retired from the Oldsmobile Division of General Motors, died Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

Raised on a farm in Iowa, Don graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Business Economics. Following graduation, he met and married Connie Stephens and the two enjoyed boating, square dancing, and participating in community theater together. Don climbed the corporate ladder as he and his family moved from state to state, making many friends along the way. Golf was Don’s favorite pastime. He enjoyed playing, working PGA tournaments and getting to know the Pros, as well as helping develop young golfers by heading up Junior Golf programs. When retirement came Don and Connie enjoyed traveling, advocating for disadvantaged children as CASA volunteers, and attending Bible studies. Don also became a Master Gardener and was active in prison ministry. He enjoyed spending time with his family, including his 7 grandchildren, and his friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Alice Albers; brother, Alfred Albers.

Survived by his wife, Connie Albers of Wichita; daughter, Jacquie (Tim) Kempf, both of Wichita; son, Stephen Albers of Wichita; brother, Robert (Jeanine) Albers of Georgetown, TX; sister, Elaine (Russell) Maifeld of Galesburg, IL; grandchildren, Sean Kempf of Wichita, KS, Katie (Derek) Libby of Prairie Village, KS, Courtney (Jacob) Mills of Lenexa, KS, Drew Kempf, Thomas Kempf, Matthew Kempf, Jessica Kempf, all of Wichita.

His dedication to his role as husband, father and extended family member was obvious, as he always conveyed his love. He was a patient and caring man, always ready to lend an ear and let you know that he was interested in you.

Visitation will be from 7:00 - 8:30 pm, Friday, March 12, 2021, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Hillside Christian Church. A memorial has been established with: First Presbyterian Church, 2727 N Loop 336 W, Conroe, TX 77304.
