Gordon Weichers, 77, of Steamboat Rock, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at MercyOne in Waterloo. A private family service will be held. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.

Gordon Harold Weichers was born on April 22, 1943 to Harold and Lillie (Eygabroad) Weichers in Wellsburg. He attended High School at Wellsburg High School and was then drafted into the US Army. After the Army he was united in marriage to the love of his life Karen Clarke at a small ceremony in Reinbeck, on February 29, 1968.

After getting married, Gordon and Karen started a trucking business together and raised 3 children. Gordon drove truck for 60 plus years and was not afraid to get his hands dirty. He passed down so many valuable “tricks of the trade” to his children, grandchildren, and community members. He was always the “Go To” guy for any questions on how to fix or build something. He had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important. He taught his children the value of hard work, tenacity and grace, which gave them something to pass down to their families and children.

Gordon was an avid member of the Steamboat Rock Presbyterian Church. He had a love of family gatherings, woodworking and fixing anything (because he could).

Of all the people he touched in life, his most proud achievement in life was marrying his wife Karen who lovingly supported him in everything he did for their 52 years of marriage.

He will be sorely missed and survived by his wife Karen of Steamboat Rock, his children Brett Weichers (Deb Jacobs) of Wellsburg, Bartt (Amy) Weichers of Ackley, Kim (Jarret) Wininger of Steamboat Rock and his siblings Sally Nevenhoven of Brownsburg, Indiana, Craig (Mary) Weichers of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Kirk (Karen) Weichers of Grundy Center, Sherri Wessels of Fairfield, and Cam Weichers of Alden and his grandchildren Shelby (Cesar) Guevara of Ackley, Morgan Weichers (Joseph Ogden) of Story City, Sydney Weichers (Hunter Neubauer) of Ackley, Tanner Weichers of Ackley, Melanie Wininger of Steamboat Rock and his great-granddaughter Emmarie.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Lillie Weichers.
