Pneumonia Takes John Bullinger, 81

Requiem High Mass was held in the St. Athanasius church Wednesday morning for John Bullinger, 81, who died Sunday at 2:20 p.m. at St. Francis hospital, Waterloo, of pneumonia. He became ill the Thursday before and on Friday was taken to the hospital.

Pallbearers were Matt Kies, Paul Kerkove, John Ehr, Jake Ehr, Val Bahl and Herb Schares. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery.

John G. Bullinger was born Sept. 23, 1860 at Dyersville, the son of F. X. and Mary Boeckenstedt Bullinger. On October 18, 1893 he was married to Miss Mary Miller at St. Athanasius Catholic church in Jesup by Father O'Dowd. He was employed here, for a time, in the harness shop of his father-in-law, Theodore Miller, then they moved to Wellsburg. Later he purchased a shop at Vinton. They returned to Jesup in 1903 and was again employed in the Miller shop where he worked until a few years ago when he retired. His wife preceded him in death Sept. 15, 1936.

The surviving close relatives are two brothers, Joe of Bogalusa, La., and Julius X. of Dyersville, and two sisters, Miss Lydia Bullinger of Ames, and Mrs. John Neyens, Dubuque.

Coming for the funeral besides the two sisters and the brother of Dyersville, were: Mrs. J. X. Bullinger, Dyersville; Mr. and Mrs. J. Gerhardt, Dubuque; Rev. Father Steffen, Ames; Mrs. Elizabeth Kramer, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Boeckenstedt, Mrs. Mary Kruse, Miss Angie Klostermann, New Vienna; Mrs. Margaret Miller, Kathryn and Robert, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Townsend, Waterloo; Miss Rose Wingert, Mrs. Gertie Billings, Mr. T. F. Kenneally, Independence; and Mrs. D. Marsh, Mrs. L. Marsh and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Biershmidt, Fairbank.
