Dies Suddenly from Apoplexy

W. F. Diebner Dies at Eldora on Tuesday Evening

W. F. Diebner died suddenly at his home at Eldora Tuesday evening from apoplexy.

At supper time he complained of a numbness in one of his arms and Mrs. Diebner gave the apparently suffering member a very severe rubbing and he stated that it felt better. After the meal was over Mr. Diebner said he would go out in the fresh air a little while and that it might revive him. He walked perhaps two blocks, arriving home within ten minutes after leaving and just after arriving he fell on the floor. Physicians were hurriedly called and for two hours six physicians did all within their power without avail. Mr. Diebner dying about 9:20. Mr. Diebner is survived by his wife and aged parents, who live in Clinton, and a brother and sister.

Mr. Diebner for several years owned and conducted a drug store at Wellsburg and he is well known in this county. His wife is a daughter of Mrs. Lillibridge of this city.

William Diebner Dies Suddenly

Well Known Druggist Succumbs to Stroke of Apoplexy Tuesday Night

Prominent Lodge Man

Was a Native Iowan and Had Gained a Wide Acquaintance in Hardin County

Complaining at the supper table on Tuesday evening of a numbness in his left side, to which his wife ministered and from which he recovered sufficiently to go to the postoffice at about 7:30 for the evening mail, on his return home a few minutes later, William F. Diebner suddenly lost consciousness and passed away at about 9 o'clock, an hour and a half later, from a stroke of apoplexy.

Physicians were summoned immediately after he was stricken, but their labors to coax the fickle flame of life were not productive of desired results.

William F. Diebner was a well known man about town and was a popular and leading member of the local Knights of Pythias order. He was born in Clinton, Iowa, on December 20, 1870, and therefore would have been 46 years old in a few days. Besides his wife the deceased man leaves an aged father and mother in Clinton, Iowa, and one brother who resides in California. Mr. Diebner came to Grundy county in 1898, having been a pharmacist in his home town for a number of years previous. He was granted a certificate by the state board of pharmacy in 1891, and was a master of his profession. At various times he has been in the drug business in Clinton, Eldora, Red Oak and Wellsburg. He was employed in the John D. Reed pharmacy here for a number of years, and gained a wide acquaintance in Hardin and Grundy counties.

Mr. Diebner was married to Miss Myrtle Lillibridge on August 10, 1904, and his home life was a happy one. He had the attributes of a genuine brother and communicated good cheer wherever he went. His sudden taking away is deplored deeply by all who knew him.

The funeral services were conducted at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Congregational church, Rev. W. G. Ramsay and Rev W. E. Stanley co-operating.

The body was taken to Clinton on the afternoon train after the obsequies, and interment will be made in that city, where his parents now reside.
