Merle Henriksen, 65
Merle Henriksen, 65, of Dike, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at his home in Dike of natural causes.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Dec. 13, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Dike with Pastor Rick Johnson officiating. Burial followed in the Elmwood Cemetery in Dike. Full military graveside rites were conducted by the Dike American Legion Post No. 471.
Pallbearers were Paul Schreiber, Richard Foote, Emery Griffith, Larry Owens, Jack Rash and Wayne Pierce.
A memorial fund has been established.
Merle was born on Oct. 17, 1934, in Yakima, WA, the son of Laurits Emil and Elva Esther (Morrissey) Henriksen. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He worked at Titus Manufacturing in Waterloo for 20 years and for the City of Dike until his retirement.
He was a member of the Dike American Legion Post No. 471 and AMVETS Post No. 49 of Cedar Falls, Dike Masonic Lodge No. 764, York Rite-El Kahir Shrine, Fraternal Order of Eagles #4074 and Cedar Valley Sportsman Club.
Survivors include his brother, Donald Henriksen and wife Caroline of Hastings, MN; two sisters, Linda May and husband William of Cedar Falls and Sue Ann Duvall and husband David of Audubon; and several other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dickie and Dale, and a sister, Joyce in infancy.
The Dike Funeral Chapel in Dike was in charge of the arrangements.
