Richard Ehmen, 63
Richard Carl Ehmen, of Dike, passed away Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes, having attained the age of 63 years, eight months and nine days.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the Reformed Church of Stout. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery in Dike. Pastor David Powers officiated. A memorial fund has been established.
Richard was born on March 26, 1936, in Parkersburg the son of Henry and Grace (Franken) Ehmen. He served in the Army from 1954 to 1956. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Siems on Dec. 1, 1957, in Hampton. Richard farmed around Stout for 23 years. The couple ran the Stout Grocery from 1982-1989 and in 1986 Richard went to work in the warehouse for the Home Shopping Network in Waterloo.
Richard was a member of the Reformed Church of Stout.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, George Ehmen.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann of Dike; a son, Rick and Karen Ehmen of Dike and their son, Rhett; son, Randy and Dawn Ehmen of Dike and their children, Evan, Krista, Riley and Stevi; daughter, Shari and John Hill of Dike and their daughters, Erica, Kara and Josie; two brothers, Ben Ehmen of Lexington, KY, and Harold and Mavis Ehmen of Grundy Center; three sisters, Anne Beckman of Grundy Center, Helen and Fred Winterberg of Aplington and Bertha and Elmer Henricks of Aplington.
Dike Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
