Services Held For Gordon Pruisner, 61
Gordon D. Pruisner passed away at his home in Aplington at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, December 23.
Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church, Aplington, on Wednesday, December 26 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Donald Patet officiated, and he was assisted by Rev. William Tjaden.
Mrs. Robert Sommer and Mrs. Robert Smith sang "When We See Christ" and "The Light of the World Is Jesus." The accompanist was Mrs. F. R. Meyer, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude. The congregation sang "What A Friend We Have In Jesus."
The casket bearers were Homer Stockdale, Willis Kannegieter, Calvin Stahl, Chris Fisher, Darryl Reints and Wallace Brouwer.
The ushers were Les Raisch and Wayne Diekman. Mrs. Wallace Brouwer and Mrs. Willis Kannegieter were in charge of the floral arrangements.
Interment was in the Elmwood Cemetery in Dike.
Mr. Pruisner was born January 7, 1923 near Dike, in Grundy county, the son of Henry and Grace Freese Pruisner. He attained the age of 61 years, 11 months and 16 days. He grew up in the Dike area and attended school there.
He was united in marriage to Arelene Tjebkes. After his marriage he served several years in the U.S. Army during WWII. After his service time, he farmed and trucked in the Dike and Aplington areas. In 1965 they made their home in Aplington.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Aplington and the Aplington Amvet Post.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Lani Jo, infant grandson, William Koehler and by an infant brother and sister.
He is survived by his wife, Arelene of Aplington; four daughters, Sonja Pruisner of Waterloo, Mrs. Dean (Cheryl) Propst and Mrs. Richard (Vicki) Koehler, both of Tama, and Mrs. Robert (Terri) Wiegmann of Allison; one adopted son, Steve Pruisner of Waterloo; five foster children, Toni of Memphis, TN, William of Long Beach, CA, Ron in the Navy, stationed in New Jersey, Michael in the Navy, stationed at Pensacola, FL, and Everett at home; two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Pruisner of rural Dike; one sister, Mrs. Bill (LaVonne) Bell of Las Vegas, NV; and five grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established.
The Dike Funeral Chapel of Dike was in charge of arrangements.
