Lillian Amelia Emma (Buls) Eiffler, 99, of Reinbeck, Iowa, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Reinbeck. Burial will follow at the Reinbeck Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Lillian was born on August 24, 1919 in rural Cresco, Iowa. She was the loving daughter of Alex and Sophie (Stuber) Buls. She was united in marriage to Herbert Carl Eiffler on September 12, 1940 at the Lutheran Church in Elma, Iowa. Together they made their home in the Cresco area, then moved to Dinsdale in 1951 and finally settling in Reinbeck area where they enjoyed many happy years. Lillian and Herbert welcomed four children into their family. Lillian cleaned homes and businesses in the Reinbeck area for many years.
Lillian was a long-time member of Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Reinbeck. She served the church as a member of the Dorcas Society and the S.O.S. Club. She loved quilting and sewing and even quilted pieces for the church up until last year. Lillian enjoyed playing cards, gardening and accompanying Herb on his fishing trips to their trailer in Minnesota. Her true joy in life came from spending time with her family.
Lillian is survived by her children Richard (Lucille) Eiffler, Sharon Mertens (David Heithoff), Joann Hendries; daughter-in-law Tina Eiffler; 9 grandchildren; 1 step grandson; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; 1 step great-great-grandson; sisters Loraine Atkins and Lydia Berentsen; and many nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Herbert; son Dean Eiffler; grandson Micheal Eiffler; brothers Walt, Clarence, and Donald Buls; sisters Esther DeVires; Hilda Averhoff and Leona Buls in infancy.
