Helen Marie Bolt was born on February 14, 1927, in rural Tama County to her parents Albert and Lydia (Dielschneider) Dudolski. She attended Reinbeck High School graduating with the class of 1944. Helen was united in marriage to Maurice Richard Bolt on September 10, 1947, in Reinbeck. They planted their roots east outside of Reinbeck on the farm. She worked as a clerk at the grocery store, working through the years as the store changed hands and names. It was safe to say that Helen knew everyone in town, as she worked at the grocery store for over fifty years. Maurice and Helen later moved west of town, and then finally settled in town. She and Maurice were blessed with two sons Dennis and Kerry.

Helen tended to her gardens with passion and pride, growing and canning the fruits and vegetables she worked hard for, making her infamous strawberry jam. She enjoyed her time spent vacationing and fishing up north in both Minnesota and Canada. Helen played cards with her friends and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was also an avid birdwatcher. Helen was a member of the United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for a number of years and served on various committees. She also helped on the PTA for a time and was a member of the PEO.

Helen is survived by her sons Dennis (Lora Pabst) Bolt of Reinbeck and Kerry (Jane) Bolt of Marion; grandchildren Damon and Parker (Annie) Bolt, Mackenzie (Kirk) Whipple and Keaton Bolt; great-granddaughter Silvi Whipple.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers Mel, Ray, Robert, Elmer, Harold, and Albert Jr.
