Mrs. Harm Boike Dies Thursday From Cancer

Mrs. Harm Boike died at her home in Fairfield township last Thursday from cancer with which she was afflicted most of the past year. She submitted to an operation at the hospital in Cedar Falls last July, but the operation brought only temporary relief. She was 61 years old on the 1st of last December.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at Dike Sunday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. Galbreth. Burial was in the Dike cemetery.

Mrs. Boike's maiden name was Emma Saathoff. She was born in Germany. She came to America at the age of 19 to join three sisters and one brother who had come to this country before. She was married to Harm Boike Feb. 24, 1904. The couple began housekeeping on a farm in Lincoln township. All of their married life except two years was spent on a Grundy county farm.

Surviving are the husband, five children and six grandchildren. The oldest son, Herman, lives on a farm near Grundy Center. The three daughters are Mrs. Bernard Ruthenberg, Cedar Falls; Mrs. Roy Henningsen, Dike; Harriett, who is at home, and the second son, Leslie, who lives at New Hartford.

Other surviving relatives are one brother, John Saathoff, Grafton, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. C. C. Vietor, Ackley.
