Claas Waltermann

Claas Waltermann was born in East Friesland, Germany, November 11th, 1836, and died at his home in Stout, February 26th, 1919, aged 82 years, 3 months and 15 days.

He was married to Hilda Hessenius in May, 1862. Nine children were born to this union, of whom six survive him. His wife passed away about a year ago after they had spent 56 years together. In 1874 they came to this country, first to Freeport, Illinois, then to Grundy County where they spent the rest of their life except seven years in Lyon county. He was a member of the Parkersburg Reformed church and later the Reformed church of Stout. Funeral services were held Monday, March 3rd, and burial was made in the Stout cemetery.
