Bruce Edward Zimmerman was born March 30, 1954 to Herbert and Beverly (Cordes) Zimmerman in Steamboat Rock, Iowa. He married Tessa Beason on June 27, 2006 in Ames.

Bruce greatly enjoyed his work as a heavy equipment welder for McAninch Corporation where he worked for 23 years. He enjoyed working on his steam engine, riding his Harley, helping those around him, and spending time with friends and his grandchildren.

Bruce passed away at 61 years of age on September 19, 2015 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Tessa Zimmerman of Cambridge; his children, Natalie Davison Kass, Justin (Stephanie) Zimmerman, Katie (Dallas) Cashman and Karissa Zenkner; his grandchildren, Brenna Cashman, Taylor Kass, Jordan Kass, Austin Kass, Natalia Charlier; his mother, Beverly Cordes Harms; five sisters; and three brothers. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert.

Bruce E. Zimmerman (1954-2015)

Wellsburg--Bruce E. Zimmerman, 61, died Saturday, Sept. 19.

He was born March 30, 1954, in Steamboat Rock. He married his wife, Tessa.

Bruce graduated from Wellsburg School and had worked in Eldora, Hubbard and retired from McAninch Corp. in Des Moines.

Survived by: his wife; a daughter, Natalie of Des Moines; a son, Justin of Hubbard; two stepdaughters, Katy and Karisa of Cambridge; his mother, Beverly Harms of Protivin; two sisters, Joyce Casey of Spartansburg, S.C., and Jana Johnson of Woodstock, Ga.; two brothers, Keith Zimmerman of Evansdale and Roger Zimmerman of Charles City; three stepsisters, Karen, Kela and Kelli; a stepbrother, Kevin; four grandchildren and a step-grandchild.

Preceded in death by: his father, Herbert Zimmerman.

Services: Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at Adams Funeral, Ames.

Bruce loved Ham radios, steam engines, welding and mechanical. He loved riding his Harley.
