Final Rites For Carl Miller

Carl A. Miller, a former resident of this community, passed away at 12:45 on Tuesday morning, Dec. 16, at the Schoitz Memorial hospital in Waterloo where he had been since Nov. 25, following a stroke from which he had never rallied. Mr. Miller and his family were members and regular attendants of the Ivester church during the years spent in this community.

Last rites were held on Saturday afternoon from the Andrle and Creps Funeral Home. Rev. John Moore officiated and burial was in the Sheller Cemetery beside his wife.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Floyd Price with Mrs. Clarence Johnson at the organ. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Glenn Kurtz and Mrs. E. R. Protheroe. Pall bearers were Oscar Ryan, Alva Lewis, Wm. Zeltman, Elmer Sword, W. R. Protheroe and Glenn Kurtz.

Carl A. Miller was born Dec. 20, 1886, in Yadkin county, North Carolina. He came to Iowa when a young man and was married to Edna Maud Cory at Marshalltown on Feb. 14, 1912. To this union were born five children, Harold C. of Hanes, North Carolina, Kenneth H. of Hanes, N.C., John H. of Waterloo, Mrs. Viola Sandhagen of Pomona, Calif., and Mrs. Ruby Wagner of Eldora. Mrs. Miller preceded her husband in death on July 2, 1927.

Mr. Miller was a farmer and lived on farms east of Eldora until 1936 when he went to Waterloo where he had been employed at the Rath Packing Co.

Besides the five children he leaves six grandchildren, three sisters and four brothers, living in the east.
