Philip R. Ohrt, 64, of Reinbeck, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Manitee Memorial Hospital in Brandenton, Florida. A funeral service for Phil will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck, Iowa. Burial will follow the service at the Reinbeck Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck. French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck is caring for Philip and his family.

Philip Rodney Ohrt, son of Richard and Margaret (Johnson) Ohrt was born on March 7, 1953 in Grundy Center, Iowa. He received his education in Reinbeck where he graduated from Reinbeck High School. He furthered his education at Iowa State University where he enrolled in the Farm Operation Course. Following his education, he came home to join the family farming operation in the spring of 1973. He married Pamela Jones. To this union, three children were born, Dawn, Nathan and Jonathan. The couple later divorced. On August 1, 2009 Phil married Janice Eckhoff at the Union Congregational UCC in Reinbeck; where he has been a member. Phil was a past member of the Reinbeck Jaycees and Grundy County Farm Bureau, where he served in many capacities including past president. He also volunteered with the Boy Scouts doing various activities with his two sons. Phil was a Pioneer Seed Corn grower for many years. Phil loved farming, fishing, was an avid sports fan, loving all college sports but especially Iowa State. He enjoyed going to their trailer house in Florida. He always kept a close eye on the weather through various weather forecasts.

Survivors include his loving wife Janice of Reinbeck; three children, Dawn (Martin) VanBrunning of New Hampton, Nathan (Lissa) Ohrt of Des Moines and Jonathan Ohrt of West Des Moines; mother, Margaret Ohrt and his brother, Brad (Lynn Pedersen) Ohrt both of Reinbeck; and his sister-in-law, Cynthia Ohrt of Cedar Rapids.

Philip was preceded in death by his father, Richard Ohrt and his brother, Randall Ohrt.
