Steven Alan Tscherter, 71, of Reinbeck, Iowa, passed away at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa on February 11, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer. A visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church in rural Reinbeck, with a rosary service being held at 7:30 PM. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church with Father David G. Kucera officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the GR Booster Club, Lions Club, or Saint Gabriel Catholic Church. French-Hand Funeral Home is taking care of Steven and his family.

Steven Alan Tscherter was born on October 5, 1946 in Des Moines, IA, to his parents Donald and Genevieve (Hall) Tscherter. Steve attended Ankeny High School graduating with the class of 1964. Steve went on to attend Grandview College and then obtained a bachelors degree in accounting from Drake University. Steve was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Carol Thimmesch on February 26, 1966 at Our Ladies Immaculate Heart Church in Ankeny, Iowa. Steve and Carol moved to Reinbeck in 1979 with their four children Lisa, Alan, Brian, and Aaron. Steve served as past President and CEO of Lincoln Savings Bank in Reinbeck where he worked for 35 years, serving his banking community for 50 years in total. Steve was all about his family and community and served selflessly, giving back to the community. Family was a large part of Steve’s life and he enjoyed going to activities for his children and grandchildren. Steve enjoyed many hobbies and was the President and founder of the All Iowa Hot Wheels Club. Steve also enjoyed classic cars and cruising around with members of the Cedar Valley Corvette Club. Steve started the GR Dollars for Scholars chapter and enjoyed serving the community in many roles. Steve enjoyed watching sports and was known to share his opinion with referees and umpires.

Steve is survived by his wife Carol of Reinbeck; father Donald (Estella) Tscherter of Reinbeck, children Lisa (Kris) Jones of Waterloo, Alan (Kim) Tscherter of Reinbeck, Brian Tscherter of Cedar Falls, and Aaron Tscherter of Alleman, IA; grandchildren Jaelon, Daemon, and Teron Jones, Jeffrey, Alex, Tyler, and Nick Tscherter; sisters Cathy Wade of Davenport, IA, and Nancy Boehm of Clive, IA; brother Roger Tscherter of Ankeny, IA. Steven was preceded in death by his mother, sister Donna Johnson, and brother Jeff Tscherter.
