Parmenter Funeral Rites Conducted at New Hartford

New Hartford, Ia.--Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Ferris Parmenter, 79, former New Hartford resident, who died Jan. 9, at the home of her son, Rowland Parmenter, Sierra Madre, Calif., were conducted Tuesday at the Methodist Episcopal church here. Rev. Earle A. Baker, pastor of First Methodist Episcopal church, at Cedar Falls, officiated. Burial was in Fairfield cemetery, south of New Hartford.

Emma Ferris was born June 26, 1855, at Elgin, Ill., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George D. Ferris. The family moved to New Hartford when she was a girl. Her marriage to John Parmenter occurred in 1898 at Bristow, where the couple lived until 1904, when they moved to Topeka, Kan., and in 1906 they removed to Long Beach, Calif.

Her husband died in 1918 at Long Beach and three sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death: Mrs. Charles Archer, Glendale, Calif.; Mrs. Adella Bronson, Waterloo; Mrs. Mary Peck, Glendale; George Ferris, New Hartford, and James Ferris, Dakota.

Two nieces survive, Mrs. Harriett Cramer and Mrs. Elnora Marquis, both of Waterloo.

Mrs. Parmenter's body arrived from California Monday, accompanied by her son.

Mrs. Ella Ferris Palmenter Dies In The West

The body of Mrs. Ella Palmenter who died at her home in Long Beach, California, arrived in Cedar Falls at 1:50 p.m. Monday and was taken to Dahl's funeral parlors.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Methodist church here conducted by Rev. J. E. Pritchard, pastor.

Interment was in Fairfield cemetery south of town.

Mrs. Palmenter was for many years a resident in Grundy County near here.
