Berthamae Norris Services Held
Berthamae A. Norris, daughter of Henry G. and Bertha Aukes Trepp, was born near Allison on November 8, 1919. She passed away on December 9 at the Wayne County Hospital at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 1 day.
Due to the death of her mother, Berthamae was raised from birth by her aunt and uncle, Mabel and William Jutting of rural Wellsburg. Berthamae attended rural school northwest of Wellsburg and graduated from the Wellsburg High School in 1936. She went on to attend Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls where she received her teaching certificate. Upon graduation, she taught rural school in the Wellsburg area.
Berthamae was united in marriage to D. Wayne Norris on February 14, 1961 and to this union one son, Verle W. Norris was born. The Norris' lived in Wyoming, Iowa from the time of their marriage until 1966, at which time they moved to Greenfield. They moved to rural Corydon in the fall of 1989.
Berthamae especially enjoyed working outdoors and gardening. She found great reward in working with young children in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
Berthamae was preceded in death by her husband; parents; her first husband, Philip Snittjer; and three brothers and two sisters.
Family members surviving include her son, Verle W. and wife, Linda of Corydon; and two brothers, Arthur Trepp of Seattle, Washington and Henry Trepp of Cedar Falls; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 12 at 10:30 a.m. from the Randolph Funeral Home, Corydon, with Pastor Dean Meyer officiating. Pallbearers were Maynard Heinbuch, David Woollis, Fred Molln, Lee Anderson, Frederick Fisher, and Bernard Cobie. Interment was in the Cambria Cemetery.
