Herman Primus
Herman Primus, 75, of Wellsburg died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital of cancer.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 6, at Wellsburg Reformed Church with Rev. Bruce Baillie officiating. Burial was in the Steamboat Rock Cemetery with graveside rites by Wellsburg AMVETS Post 91 and American Legion Post 213. Funeral arrangements were by Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg.
Herman was born August 11, 1923, in Grundy County, the son of William and Jennie (Beninga) Primus. He graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1941 and served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947. On August 15, 1947, he married Lois Jaspers in Steamboat Rock. The couple farmed near Wellsburg until 1979. He then drove motor coach, school bus, and was an agent for Grundy Mutual Insurance.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Lois, of Wellsburg; a daughter Elizabeth Ware and her husband Clive of Mt. Vernon, WA, and their daughters Sheryl, Josephine, Lauriann, and Jennifer; a son Alan of Unionville; a son Nelson of Steamboat Rock and his daughters Nicole, Margaret, Tamara and Kristeen; a son Grant and his wife Deana of Wellsburg and their children Sara and Jonathon; a daughter Laura Kammarmeyer and husband Paul of Manchester and their daughters Jill, Jamie and Megan; and a daughter Ann Primus of Wellsburg and her children Nicholas and Alissa Olson; a brother, Benjamin Primus of Eldora; two sisters Harriett Dykstra, Kalamazoo, MI, and Katherine Schuller, Orange City; and three great-grandchildren.
