Mrs. Alvin Smit Died Thursday

Funeral services for Mrs. Alvin (Minnie) Smit, 48, who died at Schoitz Memorial Hospital in Waterloo Thursday afternoon where she had been a patient for 3 weeks, were held Monday at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church.

Burial was in the Colfax Center cemetery. Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Smit was born Jan. 18, 1923 on a farm near Wellsburg, the daughter of Odie and Sadie Berends Olthoff. She married Alvin L. Smit on Sept. 20, 1945 at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member.

She is survived by her father and mother; her husband; one son, Leslie, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Jane) Helm of rural Holland, and Mrs. David (Patricia) Mundt of Iola, Wis.; two grandchildren; and one brother, John Olthoff of Wellsburg.
