Rites Held For Vernice Lettow
Funeral services for Mrs. Vernice Lettow, who died Sunday evening, July 6 at her home, were held Wednesday, July 9 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls. Rev. Kenneth W. Krueger officiated at the service. Mrs. Larry Kinney was organist and pianist was Mrs. Steven Roskens. Steven Roskens was soloist.
Serving as pallbearers were LeRoy Brandt, Keith DeVries, George Mumm, Bruce Rastetter, Dennis Neubauer and Dr. H. O. Stoutland.
Interment was in the Buckeye Cemetery. The Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Vernice Lettow was born July 8, 1914, in Wellsburg, the daughter of George H. and Lena Meyer Lindaman. She graduated from Wellsburg High in 1932 and State Teachers College in Cedar Falls in 1933. She taught rural schools in German Township, Grundy County for six years.
She was married to Robert Lettow, June 1, 1939, in the Reformed Church in Wellsburg. They lived on a farm east of Buckeye. She joined St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Buckeye. In 1980, Bob and Vernice moved to an apartment in Ackley and joined Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls.
She was active in Ladies Aid in both churches. She taught Sunday School and Bible School. She was also active in the Hardin County Farm Bureau, Ackley Woman's Club, Friendship Bible Coffee and Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging. She was an active volunteer at the Congregate meals in Ackley.
Mrs. Lettow loved flowers and was known for her mum gardens.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, Kenneth K. Lindaman and Woodrow G. Lindaman and one sister, Leola Hook.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; daughter and son-in-law, Marvin and Roberta Clawson, her son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Sheila Lettow of Lake Crystal, MN; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Jack G. Lindaman of Wellsburg and Kenneth C. Lindaman of Hubbard.
