Funeral Services Held For Former Wellsburg Resident

Carl Loof, 71, 1214 Thirty-fourth Street, Fort Madison, died at 2:24 p.m. Saturday, January 22, at the Fort Madison Community Hospital. Death was unexpected.

Mr. Loof was born June 28, 1911, at Wellsburg, IA, and had lived in Fort Madison since 1938. He retired in 1974 as boilermaker for Murray Iron Works of Burlington. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Wellsburg.

On December 9, 1937, at Sibley, IA, he married Freta Sweezer, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Karl Michael Loof, Houston, TX; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Karen Muree) Annino, Kenner, LA; a brother, Henry Loof, Ocheyedan, IA; two sisters, Mrs. Esther Dawson, Charles City, IA, and Ella Mae Winters, Iowa Falls; and four grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. His parents were Henry and Carrie Riendles Loof.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 25 at Barr Memorial Chapel. Elder Robert Brown Sr., officiated the service. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established with the Iowa Heart Association. Contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
