Former Morrison Woman Dies in Cedar Rapids

Mrs. Meritta Reimers, 74, passed away Tuesday morning at her home in Cedar Rapids from cancer. She had an operation last fall and her condition declined gradually. She had been bedfast since January.

Funeral services will be held at the Turner Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids Thursday afternoon at 1:30, followed by a brief service and burial at the Washington township cemetery, south of Morrison.

Meritta, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Coffman, was born March 6, 1879, on a farm near Morrison where the Clayton Ralston family now reside. She graduated from Teachers college and taught school for 12 years until her marriage to E. H. Reimers. After the marriage they moved to Cedar Rapids where they had made their home continually. Mr. Reimers died in May, 1950. The couple had no children.

Mrs. Reimers is survived by one sister, Mrs. Bess McCoy, and a niece, Mrs. W. L. McCommons, both of Morrison.
