Betty Knudsen, 82, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Dike died on September 24, 2016 at Western Home Communities Thalman Square. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28th at the Western Home Communities Chapel with lunch following. Visitation will be held at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Dike Chapel, 680 Main Street, Dike from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27th with visitation continuing on Wednesday, September 28th at the Western Home Communities Chapel one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at the Elmwood Cemetery in Dike. Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, Cedar Valley Hospice, or Northeast Iowa Food Bank.

Betty was born on July 8, 1934, in Waterloo, Iowa, daughter of Everett and Ethel Surface.

She graduated from East High School. Following graduation from high school, she worked at Powers Manufacturing, raised a family and then worked for Corn Beef Feedlots Inc. Betty was a member of First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls.

Betty is survived by her children, Judith of Green Bay, WI, David of Oskaloosa, Larry (Deanne) of Atlantic, and Janice (Steve) Michaud of Urbandale; grandchildren Tyler, Alyssa, Nicholas, Andrew (Meredith) and Sarah.

She was preceded in death by: her parents and her brothers, Byron and Robert Surface.
