Eugene "Gene" Stone, 82, of Reinbeck, passed away on Thursday, October 13th at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 21st from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 22nd at the French-Hand Funeral Home, with the burial at the Reinbeck Cemetery to immediately follow the service. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Gene was born on November 13, 1933 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Leron and Marietta (White) Stone. On November 29, 1952, Gene was united in marriage to Carol Cramer at the United Methodist Church in Reinbeck. Together, the couple welcomed 3 children into their family. Gene and Carol owned and operated Reinbeck Cleaners and Sunkist Cleaners in the College Square Mall, Cedar Falls. He retired from John Deere in Waterloo.

He enjoyed boating and fishing. In retirement, Gene and Carol spent winters traveling to warmer climates in their motorhome.

Gene is survived by his children, daughter Barbara (Yontz) Miller of Gig Harbor, WA and sons David Stone of Cedar Rapids, IA and Timothy Stone of Portland, OR; grandchildren Yontz Aaron Miler of Tacoma, WA, Tasha Stone of Cedar Rapids, IA and Tiara Hansen of Ely, IA; 6 great-grandchildren Brendan and Kayla Sullivan, Jathan, Jayla and Dexler Hansen and Eli Miller; brother James (Janet) Stone of Fort Walton Beach, FL; special friend Pam Anderson of Reinbeck, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Carol.
