John Paul Hondzinski, 58, of Grundy Center, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 5th 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. A Celebration of Life for John will be held in the spring. Details about the memorial will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.

John was born on July 6, 1958 in Hamtramck, Michigan, the son of Leona Card and Raymond Mazilauskas. He was raised in the area where he also attended school. After high school, he honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He was known for being a Waterloo Black Hawks super fan. John will be deeply missed by his family, friends and Black Hawks family.

He is survived by his son Corey Hondzinski of Grundy Center; brothers Doug Sherrill & Michael Mazilauskas and sisters Chrissy Mazilauskas & Theresa Sherrill; step-father Raymond Mazilauskas; and many beloved nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his mother and sister, Fran Abkes.
